Texans, rejoice: The Applebee's restaurants in your state have announced a deal so good, it might just have the rest of us visiting the Lone Star State for a meal sometime this month! Now through the end of March, Texas Applebee's locations are accepting expired gift cards from any business at all. (Yes, you read that correctly.)
For the entire month, the restaurant will accept gift cards, gift certificates, and even email or paper coupons from any business that'll pay for up to half of a customer's meal. Wow! We don't know about you, but this sounds like a dream deal come true for us. After all, we'd be the first to admit that we have a couple (or maybe even more than a couple) of expired gift cards taking up space in our wallets and piling up somewhere in our homes. We know they're no longer good at the store or restaurant we originally bought them at, but for some reason, we just haven't thrown them away. Maybe that reason is this Applebee's deal?
As it turns out, Applebee's also welcomed expired gift cards last year during the month of March, too. "We realized a number of people have either expired gift cards, gift certificates, or coupons, to places that they do not care to visit," Chris Dharod, chief operating officer of the Apple Texas franchise group, said in a statement to Dallas News last year. "So we had the idea to accept these at all our neighborhood Applebee's."
If you live in Texas or happen to be visiting this month (lucky you!), it's worth noting that there are a couple of restrictions on this deal. It can't be combined with any other Applebee's discount and it also does not apply to alcohol. And yes, for the time being, this deal is only good at Texas locations.
Applebee's, if you're listening: We think the rest of this country would happily take this offer!
