We're all for people celebrating Halloween in crazy ways, but did Burger King just take things too far?
Starting today, the famed burger chain is offering black-bun "Halloween Whoppers" as a special promotion for the October holiday. The black buns are baked with A.1. steak sauce to get their creepy coloring, and the sandwich also has the typical Whopper accoutrements: melted cheese, creamy mayo, pickles, tomatoes, and onions, plus a little extra A.1. for good measure (so it's a bit higher in calories than the original).
The promotion started in Japan, a place where Burger King franchises have also experimented with black cheese and black ketchup in the past. Clearly, this is a chain that likes playing around with color to see how fans react.
And there's no question: Burger King's excited! They released a funny video likening the "Halloween Burger" to last night's historic supermoon lunar eclipse, which certainly made us smile. But that doesn't mean we're rushing out to grab one just yet; we're still on the fence. What about you?
