It’s not hard to see why everyone is clamoring to know Halle Berry’s beauty secrets. The 52-year-old actress could pass for someone 15 years younger. So, what does Berry know that we don’t about aging gracefully?
Berry routinely shares her healthy lifestyle tips on Instagram during a segment called “PHIT TALKS” with her trainer, Peter Lee Thomas. It was during a recent video that Berry revealed to her fans what it is that keeps her looking practically ageless.
“I do believe that exercise is so related to healthy skin and how you not only feel but how you look. Cardio. Cardio. Cardio. Getting the blood running through your body is so good for your complexion,” Berry says. She even credits her heart-pumping exercise routine for helping transform her skin over the years.
A July 2017 study published in the journal Preventative Medicine backs up Berry’s anecdotal evidence. Researchers wanted to learn if there was a relationship between exercise levels and telomere length. (Telomeres are the sequence of genes at the end of DNA, and they shrink as you age, so experts consider them a biomarker of aging.) Not surprisingly, the results showed that adults who worked out vigorously had longer telomeres. In fact, the biomarkers of those adults appeared almost 10 years younger compared to the markers of participants who never exercised.
Berry also credits skincare expert Olga Lorencin for her youthful glow. Berry’s been a faithful client of Lorencin’s for nearly 18 years and uses her beauty products at home.
