3 Ways to Fade Old Scars and Brighten Your Skin

Tags:

Are your old scars making you look older? You’re not alone. Here’s the good news: A few simple solutions can help reverse your aging marks for radiant and smooth-looking skin in no time.

“Fill” indents in your skin with this oil.

Massage a pea-sized amount of rose hip seed oil onto your scars twice a day for a month. The oil’s vitamin A revs collagen production, which can help “plump” acne-related pockmarks. One to try: Olivia Care 100% Natural Rose Hip Oil Serum ($9.99, Target).

Fade old burns with this DIY solution.

Mix 2 Tbsp. of sugar, 2 Tbsp. of honey, and the juice from half a lemon; massage the mixture onto your old burns. Let the solution sit for 10 minutes; then rinse. Sugar’s glycolic acid sloughs off old skin, honey rehydrates, and lemon’s citric acid brightens. Repeat this routine once a day for results in a week.

Flatten raised scars with this gel.

A study found that applying silicone gel to raised scars twice a day reduced the height of the marks by 68 percent in six months. Here’s why: Silicone creates a hydration barrier over skin, normalizing collagen production to flatten scars. One to try: ScarAway Scar Treatment Gel ($34.99, Walgreens).
