5 Mediterranean-Inspired Ways to Reduce Cellulite, Boost Hair Growth, and More

No need to hop on a plane to get the gorgeous skin and hair women from the Mediterranean are famous for! Simply reach for the nutrient-packed ingredients native to the region (many are easily found in your kitchen!) and whip up the pampering treatments sure to leave you looking gorgeous in no time.

Erase discoloration with an orange spot treatment.

Oranges, which are heavily grown in Spain, contain skin-brightening vitamin C and pigment-fading citric acid. And combining with exfoliating honey helps remove discolored, dead cells so skin appears brighter instantly.

Try it: Mix 2 tsp. of orange juice and ½ Tbsp. of honey. Apply to areas with discoloration; let sit 15 minutes, then rinse.

Boost hair growth with a rosemary conditioner.

The star herb in many Mediterranean dishes is also a powerful hair-growth booster. Its unique compounds increase circulation to the scalp to deliver growth-encouraging blood and oxygen to follicles. Plus, antioxidants in the herb plump strands so they look fuller even faster.

Find it in: Weleda Rosemary Conditioning Hair Oil (Buy on Amazon $17.67).

Diminish dimples with an espresso mask.

Italian women incorporate espresso into their beauty routines since it’s rich in diuretic caffeine, which flushes the excess fluids and trapped toxins that accentuate cellulite. Using with moisturizing coconut oil hydrates and plumps skin so dimples are less noticeable.

Try It: Combine 1 Tbs. of espresso grounds and ½ Tbs. of coconut oil. Massage onto cellulite and let sit 10 minutes; rinse.

Soften rough skin with a sea salt scrub.

Women in Israel rely on sea salt from the Dead Sea to make their skin baby-soft. The salt’s abundance of vitamins and minerals nourishes skin, while its fine granules slough off dry cells to make skin smoother. Pairing with avocado oil locks in moisture to further alleviate dry patches.

Try It: Combine 1½ Tbs. of sea salt and 1 Tbs. of avocado oil. Massage onto damp skin while showering for 1 minute; rinse.

Smooth a crepey chest with an olive oil serum.

Olive oil is a beauty staple for women in all Mediterranean countries, and it’s long been attributed as the key to keeping their skin looking ageless. How it helps: The oil’s antioxidants repair damaged cells and boost collagen production to firm creased skin. And adding in lemon oil (its vitamin C also spurs collagen output) smooths out the chest, stat.

Try It: Mix ½ Tbs. of olive oil and ½ Tbs. of lemon essential oil. Massage into the chest and let absorb.
