Seminole Humane Society
This is a story about a cute six-year-old Great Pyrenees mix pooch named Cathleen. Little Cathleen originally lived in Seminole, Oklahoma, with a family who loved her very much. Unfortunately, when the family moved, they couldn't take Cathleen with them. So they gifted her to a foster family in Prague — a town 20 miles away — that would take care of her.
Desperately missing her original family, Cathleen escaped —not once, but twice — in hopes of finding them again.
Luckily, an animal control officer caught Cathleen and brought her the shelter.
"I thought it was my neighbor’s dog. I tried to get her, but I couldn't, so I called Animal Control," Marta Mattingly, the treasurer of the Seminole Humane Society — who lives just three block away from Cathleen's original owners — told BuzzFeed.
Instead of letting her run rampant yet again, the Seminole Humane Society stepped in to find Cathleen a new forever home.
"Her heart wants to be with them, but they cannot keep her," the Seminole humane Society wrote in a Facebook post. "We have now stepped in to assist Cathleen on her next journey."
Once the post went live, the Seminole Humane Society received 15 applications and more than 100 inquiries regarding Cathleen — one of which came all the way from Canada! So many people were rooting for Cathleen's adoption that the Facebook post was shared more than 300 times, with families across the country writing that they were hoping and praying sweet Cathleen would be placed in a loving new home.
On January 11, the Seminole Humane Society announced that Cathleen finally found a forever home with a family in Texas where she'll be able to play with her new canine siblings. How wonderful!
It looks like we're not the only ones who want to follow Cathleen on her journey to happiness. To give everyone a daily dose of cuteness, Cathleen's new owner has created a Facebook fan page titled "Keeping up with Cathleen" that's full of cute photos of Cathleen hanging out with her new "fur" brothers and sisters!
