This year has been a hard time for many of us, but Kelly Osbourne declared early-on that this was going to be “the year of me” — and boy was she right. The star has recently revealed a dramatic weight loss of 85 pounds!
Earlier this month, Osbourne took to Instagram to share a stunning new selfie revealing some major changes in her appearance. “Today, I’m feeling #Gucci,” she said in the caption. Fans were quick to note how much she looked like her mother, Sharon, in the photo.
Other fans also made a point to congratulate the 35-year-old’s dramatic weight loss. Co-host of The Real Jeannie Mai’s mother commented, “Oh my gosh, you lost a lot of weight.” To which Osbourne responded, “That’s right mamma Mai I lost 85 lbs since I last saw you. Can you believe it?”
As the year began, Osbourne proclaimed that 2020 was going to be her year in a sentimental Instagram post. “2019 has been one hell of a year. In many ways it has been amazing especially in terms of self-growth. In many ways it has been gut-wrenchingly difficult,” she confessed.
“However through all the good and bad it has been incredibly educational for me. I have come to the realization that I constantly put the needs of others before my own. I allow myself to be put in situations that make me feel uncomfortable for fear of upsetting someone else. Not forgetting the amount of times I co-sign the bull**** of others. With almost 2 1/2 years of sobriety under my belt I still struggle with confrontation (which was NEVER a problem when I was using) Well this all STOPS today. 2020 is going to be the year of me!!! It’s time to put myself first, stop taking on other peoples sh** and be the badass sober woman I was born to be. #HappyNewYear I love you guys.”
While Osbourne herself hasn’t explicitly talked about how she’s lost the weight, her personal trainer Lacey Stone recently spoke to Hollywood Life about her favorite workout to do with her clients, and it involves a combination of strength training and cardio.
“Some of my favorite workout moves have been around forever because they work,” Stone told the publication. “The squat, lunge, deadlifts, push-ups, dumbbell bicep curl shoulder press combo, and [tricep] dips are staples to my workouts.”
Stone notes that strength training, along with cardio, is integral in any weight loss journey. Her favorite form of cardio is spin because it raises your heart rate, targets large muscle groups, and it’s low-impact — so it’s safe and comfortable for the joints! “Spin is a great way to lose pounds, but strength training is an absolute must-have to keep your curves,” she explains.
“You don’t want to do so much cardio that you lose definition, and that’s why adding a strength component is essential to a weight loss plan even though you’d think it adds size; stimulating muscle will really help highlight those curves and definition.”
According to Stone, the ideal workout program includes a strength training circuit including moves like those mentioned above, two to three times a week. For your circuit, she says to perform three sets of 12 to 20 reps of each exercise. Do this along with a spin class or any kind of cardio class two to three times a week, and you’re golden!
If you’re feeling motivated by Kelly Osbourne and her amazing transformation, give a simple strength training circuit a try. There are even workouts that you can do at home available for free on YouTube, like this one from Nourish Move Love! All you need are some dumbbells.
