Oh no! Cracker Jack made an announcement about a change to its beloved product yesterday--and it's HUGE. If you're a fan of this all-American snack food, which has been around for more than a century, prepare to be shocked (and, if you're like us, maybe a little sad, too!).
You know those iconic little prizes that have come inside every Cracker Jack box since 1896? They're going away... forever.
In their place, each bag of the caramel-coated popcorn and peanuts will now include a sticker that contains digital codes for mobile games. Talk about a sign of the times!
"The new Prize Inside allows families to enjoy their favorite baseball moments through a new one-of-a-kind mobile experience," explained a rep from the company, which is owned by the Frito-Lay division of PepsiCo. The new prizes will require the Blippar app, available for iOS and Android, and will come in four themes: Dot Dash, Dance Cam, Get Carded and Baseball Star.
No more prizes?! If that's not enough to rock your world, we hear the snack's packaging will be getting a makeover as well.
Just what is the world coming to?
