Tags:

Though the word sounds scary, acids for your skin actually works wonders — and you can find them in your kitchen already!

From reducing the appearance of fine lines to lightening age spots and bringing that radiance, acids for skin are a heavy-hitter in the beauty world these days. But you don’t have to break the bank with fancy products to get results, these potent, naturally-derived acid DIY treatments work so fast, you’ll be glowing within a week!

Age spots? Try citric acids.

Abundant in citrus fruits like lemon, citric acid acts like a mild bleach to lighten dark spots and even out skin. Simply cut a juiced lemon into wedges, then twice a day, scrub the flesh side of a wedge onto spots, let sit for 10 minutes and rinse.

Dull skin? Try glycolic acids.

Sugar’s glycolic acid helps skin shed dead cells to reveal its radiant layers below. Just add 1 tsp. of sugar to a quarter-size amount of facial cleanser, then massage onto damp skin for one minute and rinse. Do this twice a day for best results.

Wrinkles? Try lactic acids.

Found in dairy foods like yogurt, lactic acid exfoliates and smooths the top layer of skin while hydrating it to “fill in” lines. Apply a thin layer of plain, full-fat Greek yogurt onto clean skin and let sit for 15 minutes; rinse. Repeat every other day.
