Fans of the Robertson clan were in for a big surprise when Duck Dynasty star Jase Robertson shaved off his famous beard. However, Jase's impressive facial hair didn't go to waste. The duck hunter turned reality star did it to raise money for his daughter Mia's foundation.
Jase, 48, showed off before and after photos on Mia Moo Fund Instagram page, which raises money for kids born with a cleft lip or palate. Inspired by his 13-year-old daughter, the #ShaveJase challenge raised $35,000 for the cause.
Previously, Jase and his wife, Missy, 46, opened up about their daughter's birth defect, revealing their family's life completely changed following her birth. "We had two perfectly healthy boys before we had Mia, so it was difficult when she came along,” Missy told Us Weekly. “I thought, ‘Oh, I finally have my girl’ — but I wasn’t able to completely enjoy that process.”
Jase continued, "Here I am, worried about what she’s going to look like, while the doctors aren’t even sure she can breathe on her own. From that moment on, I stopped being so superficial. It’s been a life-changing experience for me and Missy because of how shallow we used to think.”
However, Mia, who has undergone four surgeries since her birth, is inspiring kids with similar struggles on social media. "Why should you try to fit in when God made you to stand out! Happy Back to School," she captioned a recent photo.
