Independent Pup Has Her Own Bus Pass so She Can Go to the Park

Tags:

Can you think of anything better than witnessing a smart, independent pup who knows exactly what she’s doing and where she’s going on your Monday morning commute? Yeah, we didn’t think so either.

Last summer, reddit and Instagram user SeattlecityMisfit uploaded an adorable photo of a black lab sitting — quite happily we might add — in the front row of a Seattle city bus with her very own bus pass attached to her collar.

Eclipse: Seattle’s Bus Riding Dog

Once the internet got a hold of this photo, Eclipse became an overnight celebrity! And people everywhere are trying to get a spot next to her during her commute to the park.

“All the bus drivers know her. She sits here just like a person does,” bus commuter Tiona Rainwater told Seattle’s local news channel KOMONEWS. “She makes everybody happy. How could you not love this thing?”

Once riders noticed Eclipse continuing to get off the bus without an owner, local news reporters’ curiosity grew.

“It doesn’t really appear to have an owner. The dog gets off at the dog park. I just look out the window and I’m like, ‘Did that just happen?'” radio host Miles Montgomery of KISW-FM asked in a broadcast. “She was most concerned about seeing out the window, and I couldn’t figure out what that was. It was really just about seeing where her stop was.”

And after doing a little research, locals finally found out who Eclipse belonged to — Seattle resident Jeff Young. Apparently the pair live together near the 3rd Avenue bus stop.

“We get separated. She gets on the bus without me, and I catch up with her at the dog park,” Young told KOMONEWS. “It’s not hard to get on. She gets on in front of her house and she gets off at the dog park, three or four stops later. She’s a bus-riding, sidewalk-walking dog.”

What a self-sufficient pup! If you’re interested in seeing what Eclipse is up to today, just check out her official Facebook page “Eclipse Seattle’s Bus Riding Dog,” for photos, videos, and more independent cuteness.
