Bo Derek and John Corbett Secretly Got Married After 20 Years Together

Bo Derek and John Corbett are one of those couples who seem to just get it. Despite being super famous, their relationship has stood the test of time even without the seal of marriage. But as if they knew this was the happy news we all needed, Corbett announced yesterday that after 20 years together, he and his love have — finally — tied the knot.
That’s right — it’s official! Speaking to Jerry O’Connell, host of CBS’ The Talk, Corbett, 60, rather casually revealed that he and Derek, 64, married at a secret ceremony back in December of 2020. “Around Christmas time we got married. Bo and I got married,” he said. O’Connell responded saying: “I noticed your ring, and I was going to say something, but not on live television, but wow. Congratulations.” According to Corbett, this was the first time either of the couple had mentioned their marriage publicly.
So why the sudden decision to tie the knot after all this time? Well, Corbett said that the year 2020 had a little something to do with it. “After 20 years, we decided to get married,” he told O’Connell. “We didn’t want 2020 to be that thing that everybody looks back at and hated. We thought ‘let’s get one nice thing out of it.'” How sweet is that?

Derek, who hadn’t been on a date since her first husband, John Derek, passed away in 1998, gladly agreed to the occasion. Speaking to TODAY, Corbett confessed that he was intimidated by Derek. But she took a liking to him, and the two have been inseparable ever since.
What’s most impressive about the couple is that despite living such busy, chaotic lives, they’ve safeguarded their relationship by ensuring that they always make time for one another. “We’re always traveling so our date nights are usually where we meet up someplace else,” Derek told Us magazine. That can mean hopping on a plane to rendezvous with Corbett somewhere like London, where he was working on a film at the time. “It’s like every night’s a date night when you’re on vacation and in a foreign city.”
This isn’t the first time the pair has at least considered getting hitched, though. Derek revealed to Fox News that they once almost said their “I do’s” on a vacation they took years ago. “We were on a funky, horrible boat in the Amazon, and I thought it might be fun to be able to later tell you that we got married on a funky little boat in the Amazon,” she said. But while the idea seemed fun in the moment, they ultimately decided it was just a little too weird.
