If it’s always been your dream to work for Chip and Joanna Gaines, you’ll be thrilled to know that this fantasy of being employed by the Fixer Upper couple could actually become your reality. The beloved HGTV stars are hosting a first-time-ever job fair for Magnolia, their home decor and lifestyle company — and if you’re a “creative type,” you’ll definitely want to listen up.
This “new kind of job fair,” as it’s described on Magnolia’s website, is a unique opportunity for creative folks to meet with Magnolia’s creative department this spring in Waco, Texas. “What we mean by ‘new’ is that we don’t want to focus on typical job applicant requirements, like references and resumes,” the job fair description reads. “While those things are great, and we’d love to take a peek at them, what we really want to focus on is seeing your skill, craft, or creativity in action. Because we’re looking for all types of creatives, we don’t want to box you in with specific job listings or descriptions.”
So if you have some type of creative talent — such as writing, blogging, photography, or calligraphy — and if you’re willing to move to Waco, you’re eligible to apply for the two-day recruitment event. This chance of a lifetime gives you the opportunity to get to know the Gaines’ creative team firsthand and find out if you’re a good match to work together with the other members at the company.
All you have to do is fill out a submission form, and mail that along with any or all of the following items: a resume, a creative project you created just for this submission, a creative project you did in the past, a digital portfolio, a physical portfolio, or a video (one minute or less in length). In true creative fashion, it’s up to you to decide which ones you choose to send in.
But don’t dilly-dally on the application if you’re interested. Packages must be postmarked by February 22 and submitted by February 25, so there’s no time to waste. Fingers crossed if you apply!
