Dollar General Is Adding a Whopping 900 Stores Nationwide

Tags:

If you’re a fan of Dollar General, get ready for some good news: The chain is opening up 900 new stores before the end of 2018. And yes, they’ll be scattered all over the country, to the delight of many who are looking for a great discount.

What with all the bad news we’ve been hearing about so many stores shutting down lately, it’s great to hear that business is booming for Dollar General. Currently, the chain has 14,000 stores in 44 states — and they seem to be adding more and more locations every year. By the time 2018 comes to a close, three in four Americans will live within five miles of a Dollar General store. Wow — that’s a lot of us!

“Our customer loves the in-store treasure hunt for unique items,” said chief executive Todd Vasos.

Of course, low prices have always been a big draw for shopping at Dollar General (it even has ‘dollar’ in the name, for goodness’ sake!), but lately, the company has been upping the ante on the different types of products it sells in some stores. For instance, if you’ve visited your local store lately, you might have seen more name brand products (like Tide detergent) than you did when you made a run over there back in the day. You may have also noticed a lot more frozen food options available; some of the stores now even sell fresh produce.

What with all the exciting changes Dollar General has been making recently, we have a lot to look forward to — from a store that seems to know its customers, no less. Along with opening new stores, Dollar General also plans to remodel 1,000 existing locations, according to the Washington Post. We can’t wait to see what they all have to offer!
