Dolly Parton Brings Us All to Tears While Surprising Carly Pearce With Grand Ole Opry Invitation

Tags:

How would you react if Dolly Parton suddenly walked into the room you were standing in? We have to say we’d probably do the exact same thing country star Carly Pearce did when it happened to her a few days ago: burst into tears.

Pearce, who got her start singing at Dollywood in her teens, thought she was recording a video promoting the theme park. As she was explaining how much she loves her memories of visiting and performing there, the country queen herself waltzed into the room and Pearce was instantly starstruck.

But Parton wasn’t just there to surprise the younger singer with her presence. After telling Pearce how proud she is of her success, Parton mentioned that Pearce has performed on the Grand Ole Opry stage 80 times. Pearce gushed, “I’m just trying to follow in your footsteps!”

Parton joked, “Well, you should be a member of the Grand Ole Opry, what’s wrong with them?” Of course, Pearce agreed — and then quite literally fell to the floor when Parton shared an official invitation to join the legendary institution.

Take a look to see Pearce’s emotional reaction. Fair warning: You might find yourself tearing up as you watch the sweet moment!

The tradition of having current members of the Opry invite new performers to join began in the late 1990s, but this is Parton’s first time extending the offer. She clearly sees something special in Pearce!

Along with Parton, who became a member more than 50 years ago, Pearce is joining fellow country stars like Reba McEntire, Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley, Emmylou Harris, Keith Urban, and many, many more of our favorite performers.

Hopefully we’ll get to see Parton and Pearce share a duet on the iconic Opry stage to celebrate the happy news soon!
