Goldie Hawn’s Secret to Staying Fit and Fabulous at 73

Goldie Hawn has been a knockout ever since she burst onto the scene as the resident go-go girl on Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In back in the ‘60s. Her impressive comedy chops, alongside the likes of Lily Tomlin and Ruth Buzzy, inspired plenty of viewers to tune in each week — though her bikini-clad and colorfully painted body probably didn’t hurt either! And decades later, she’s managed to keep both her bubbling personality and toned physique as fresh as ever.

So what is Goldie’s secret to staying so youthful — inside and out — at 73? “I don’t have one,” she admitted to reporters in 2017. “I really don’t. It’s not a secret.” If you assumed she spends long hours in the gym, think again. In fact, she recommends 15 minute intervals of exercise, instead. “I try to work out every day a little bit,” she explained. “I’m a dancer, so I can’t stop moving.” Goldie started learning fancy footsteps from her own dancer mother at just three-years-old, and was a dance instructor before hitting it big in Hollywood.

Goldie also lists things like hiking and biking as favorite activities that keep her on the move. As for her diet, she sticks to simple proteins, like a hearty bowl of lentils, and is avid about drinking green juice — a healthy mixture of fruits and veggies — on a daily basis. The color green actually seems to be the basis for most of her food and drink preferences. Goldie described her regular meals to Self in 2011, listing items like green salad with broccolini, green watercress soup, green beans, and kale chips. Of course, just like the rest of us, she’s also known to indulge every now and then. Her favorite food to splurge on? Savory truffle fries!

When it comes to maintaining her sunny outlook on life, she relies on daily meditation to keep her grounded. “I have short meditation spurts during the day,” she explained, “If I don’t have a long one in the morning — which, sometimes the phone rings and you’re off and running — I do find time to get quiet.”

Here’s to many more years of Goldie shining her light on screen and off!
