We Tested a Fine Art Doppelgänger Finder on Our Favorite Celebrities

Who doesn’t love doppelgängers? There are few things more fascinating than finding an unrelated person who looks so similar to yourself — or to someone you know and love. Google must have been reading all of our minds, because it just added an exciting new update to one of its apps, Google Arts and Culture, which helps you find your doppelgänger — in the form of fine arts!

We’d be fibbing if we said we never imagined what we might look like as a fancy painting, so we were thrilled to find out that all we have to do with this app is download it for free off the app store. Then, scroll down until you reach a message that reads, “Is your portrait in a museum?” and click on it to get started. Once you’re in, all you have to do is snap a selfie or take a photo of someone else, and the app will dig through museum archives to find the best matches for your double among thousands of fine art paintings. You might just be surprised by your results, trust us!

Of course, this is a fun activity to do for yourself on your own time or with your kids and grandkids next time you see them. Yet we couldn’t resist having a little more fun with the app by testing it out on some of our favorite celebrities. As you’ll see below, the results were nothing short of entertaining — and in some cases, absolutely hilarious.

Why the long face, Joanna?

Is this really what Chip would look like with a longer beard?

Though the wavy hair in this painting is lovely, we have a feeling the duchess would skip the hair clips.

Prince William

Is this why Prince William rarely wears hats?

Prince Harry

Well, at least this matched him with a painting of a fellow royal!

Dolly Parton

We can’t ever imagine the joyful Dolly looking so sullen!

Who could see Kirk rocking a mustache like this?

Ellen DeGeneres

Even when the TV host gets emotional, she would likely never droop her head this much.

Whoa! Is it just us, or does the woman in the painting look like she’s about to ask some intense questions?

Too fun!
