How Bo Derek and John Corbett Keep Their Sparks Flying After 18 Years Together

Bo Derek and John Corbett are two of the most attractive (and talented) people on the planet — and they also happen to be a real-life couple. Despite their eye-catching good looks, the pair’s relationship has mostly gone under the radar since they started dating 18 years ago. But that hasn’t stopped them from opening up about how they’ve managed to keep sparks flying, even while constantly jet-setting around for their jobs.

“My gosh, we don’t have typical,” Derek told Us magazine last year. “We’re always traveling so our date nights are usually where we meet up someplace else.” That can mean hopping on a plane to rendezvous with Corbett somewhere like London, where he was working on a film at the time. “It’s like every night’s a date night when you’re on vacation and in a foreign city, and London was beautiful,” she explained.

Another one of their past trips almost included spontaneous nuptials, Derek revealed to Fox News. “We were on a funky, horrible boat in the Amazon, and I thought it might be fun to be able to later tell you that we got married on a funky little boat in the Amazon.” As great as that story would have been, she added, “Then we decided no, that was just too weird.” The couple are clearly in no rush to walk down the aisle after all their time together. Instead, Derek said they focus on taking things “day to day.”

If you’re wondering how they met in the first place, the pair were set up back in 2002 by one of Corbett’s friends. The actor was making audiences swoon with his heart-melting roles in My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Sex and the City, but couldn’t find a date for an Oscar’s party. Derek hadn’t been out with anyone since the passing of her first husband, John Derek, in 1998. Corbett admitted to TODAY, “I was very intimidated!” Luckily for him, Derek took an instant liking to him and it didn’t take long for the two to become inseparable.

We look forward to seeing more of this beautiful couple in the future, no matter where their travels take them!
