Kelly Ripa’s Delicious Alkaline Breakfast Keeps Her in Great Shape

Tags:

If you know anything about Kelly Ripa’s eating habits, you’re probably aware that she follows an alkaline diet. The star has talked endlessly about how eating in this way helps her stay in great health. And now, she’s revealed her favorite go-to breakfast that both satisfies her cravings and keeps her in great shape!

Last week on Live With Kelly and Ryan, Ripa and co-host Ryan Seacrest held a segment about the popular alkaline diet, which emphasizes alkaline foods like broccoli and spinach and limits acidic foods like citrus fruits and coffee. They invited Daryl Gioffre, author of Get Off Your Acid (Buy on Amazon, $13.49), a seven-day weight loss plan focused on alkaline eating, to discuss the transformative powers it can have on energy levels, weight management, and overall health.

Ripa was as excited as ever to share how the diet has changed her life. She explained that she began following the plan as a way to “lose weight naturally, sleep better, improve digestion, [and] strengthen [her] immune system.” After starting, it wasn’t long before she realized that her morning routine would need to undergo a complete overhaul.

As previously mentioned, part of the alkaline diet is skipping coffee. As Ripa explained it, “Coffee drains you of your minerals that you need to perform every day.” With no coffee in the morning, she knew that she would have to choose foods that would perk her up with energy and also provide enough nutrients and satiety to get her through her busy workday — so she turned to chia pudding.

If you haven’t already heard the buzz about chia seeds, they’re a major health-boosting superfood loaded with gut-boosting fiber. Ripa’s chia pudding recipe (which she got from Dr. Gioffre’s book) is made with hydrating coconut water and is packed with nutrients from pitted dates, cacao, cashews, and coconut oil. According to Gioffre, “Cacao is low in sugar, which gives you the cheat for your chocolate, [while] it’s high in magnesium.”

Whether or not you’re following an alkaline diet like Ripa, you can still reap the benefits of this healthy breakfast option. It’s simple to make, and the best part is, you can prepare it the night before so you’re not rushing around in the morning! Plus, if you struggle with gut or digestive issues, this chia pudding could be a major life saver. Ripa made sure to note, “If you’re constipated or not feeling regular, this is the answer to your prayers.”

So if you’re ready to drop a few pounds and improve your gut health, why not try Ripa’s secret? Check out the full recipe here.
