Olivia Newton John Responds to Health Concerns Following Abrupt Tour Cancelation

(Updtae 8/22 5:50) — Despite reports that Olivia Newton-John canceled her upcoming public appearances due to complications with her breast cancer diagnosis, her publicist has confirmed that isn’t the case. The statement was given to Page Six and reads:

“Olivia Newton-John’s two upcoming speaking appearances in Australia were canceled due to scheduling conflicts with her upcoming promotional tour for her new book, Don’t Stop Believin’, and the ONJ Cancer Wellness & Research Centre’s Wellness Walk & Research Run — not illness, as falsely reported. She’s looking forward to walking with everyone at the Wellness Walk on September 16th in Melbourne and is excited that this year the walk is going global and people can support it by becoming virtual walkers from wherever they are in the world.”

We are so glad to hear the actress and singer is doing well and will continue to make public appearances in the coming weeks.

(Original Article 8/22 4:55) — Legendary performer Olivia Newton-John has abruptly pulled out of public speaking engagements in Australia that were scheduled to take place next month, according to reports from The New Daily. The sudden announcement, which came weeks after she’d announced her participation in those events, has prompted a new round of health concerns for the Grease star.

Back in May 2017, Newton-John revealed she was in the midst of her second battle with breast cancer. She had previously undergone chemotherapy and a partial mastectomy following an initial diagnosis of the disease in 1992.

The actress and singer spoke with Entertainment Tonight in September 2017 and admitted the second round of cancer was causing so much pain that she was unable to walk at times. However, things seemed to be taking a turn for the better when she spoke with ET again in February 2018. “I’ve been great. I feel really good,” Newton-John said in that interview. She was even on hand to help celebrate the 40th anniversary of Grease along with her co-stars from the iconic film, including John Travolta, on August 15, 2018.

The Xanadu star was inspired to found the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research center after her first diagnosis. “The whole experience has given me much understanding and compassion, so much so that I wanted to help others going through the same journey. With more and more people affected by cancer every day, I believe we are in a world desperate for healing, and I’m committed to doing whatever I can to help,” she explains on the foundation’s official website.

Although several media outlets, like Radar, are reporting that Newton-John’s cancer has spread and caused the cancellation of public appearances, neither she nor her representatives have issued a public statement. This is a developing story that we will continue to update as we receive more verifiable information.
