How Princess Diana’s Legacy Will Live On In Baby Archie

Tags:

Prince Harry once famously described how Princess Diana would have been “best friends” with his wife Meghan Markle. Not only did he propose to his bride with a ring adorned with two diamonds from his late mom’s jewelry collection, but he spoke movingly of how Diana would have delighted in his long-awaited love match. “I’m sure she’s with us, jumping up and down somewhere else,” Prince Harry said.

Since then, Meghan and Harry have been determined to carry on Diana’s legacy, and sources reveal how they’re planning to do just that with their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor

“Harry is obviously over the moon to be a dad, but of course he wishes his mom could be here to share it with him,” says a source. “They’ll do whatever they can to make Diana a part of everything they do as parents.”

From the start, Meghan has been compared to the mother-in-law she never had the chance to meet. After all, they share a passion for humanitarianism and a tendency to bend the rules. Royal biographer Andrew Morton even claimed that during her teen years, “Meghan talked one day about being Diana 2.0.”

Palace sources also reveal that the duchess has looked to the late Princess of Wales as a source of inspiration, revealing, “Meghan knows how loved Di was, and ever since she first entered the royal family, she has tried to model herself on her mother-in-law.

“She admires everything from Diana’s style to the way she did things her way at the palace.”

Harry, meanwhile, has made sure to honor his mother’s memory by continuing her humanitarian work. “I intuitively know what my mother would like me to do and want to progress with work she couldn’t complete,” he once said.

Now, Harry will pass on the lessons his mother taught him to his own children. “He plans to teach his kids about the issues she made him aware of,” the insider tells, explaining that “kindness, compassion, and independence” are of utmost importance.

“She also went out of her way to give him as much of a normal life as possible and he wants that for his son.”

“He’s so protective of Meghan and now their child, and he’s always wanted his children to grow up with some semblance of a normal life. He doesn’t want his kids to be shut behind palace walls.”
