Country fans, get excited for your early Christmas present: Reba McEntire will be hosting the CMA Country Christmas TV special this year. The show, filmed at the beloved Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, is set to air November 27 on ABC at 8 p.m ET.
Though the show has taken place at the famed concert hall for the past three years, this year marks the first time that Jennifer Nettles, who has hosted since it started in 2009, will not be the host. So Reba taking the reigns is a big change for the show.
“Reba epitomizes country and the cheer of the holiday season,” said CMA Chief Executive Officer Sarah Trahern in a press release. “She’s also the most nominated female in CMA Awards history, so the fit couldn’t be more perfect.”
It seems like Reba herself is thrilled about the opportunity.
“Watching CMA Country Christmas has become one of my favorite holiday traditions,” the country star said in the announcement. “And I was absolutely thrilled to be asked to host.”
Doesn’t she just ooze Christmas spirit in her announcement — especially while wearing that gorgeous evergreen sparkly dress?
If she’s able to get us into the idea of holiday joy months ahead of time, we can only imagine what she’ll have in store for us when she actually takes the Opry stage. (We can’t help but hope we’ll hear her perform a couple of her Christmas hits, too.)
Though the lineup of performers has not been announced yet, it’s expected to be a star-studded one. Last year we saw Kelly Clarkson, Brett Eldredge, and Loretta Lynn, among others, take the stage. We’re sure this years’ stars will shine just as brightly.
Who’s ready for a very country Christmas? We know we are!
