On March 26, The Young and the Restless will be celebrating its 45th anniversary, and as part of that, it will be bringing back three faces who will be familiar to longtime fans of the soap: Jaime Lyn Bauer as Lorie Brooks, Janice Lynde as Leslie Brooks, and Meg Bennett as Julia Newman. According to Entertainment Weekly, the three actresses will begin taping Wednesday, February 21, and are scheduled to go on air during the week of March 26.
Bauer, who soap fans will also remember as Laura Spencer Horton on Days of Our Lives, originated the role of Lorie Brooks back in 1973 when The Young and the Restless first started. She played the role until 1982, returning for brief appearances in 1984 (for Victor and Nikki’s wedding) and 2002 (to keep Nikki and Victor from remarrying). Lynde also debuted along with the soap in 1973 and played Leslie Brooks until 1977 when the role was recast. Bennett joined The Young and the Restless in 1980 as Victor’s wife, Julia. She remained with the show until 1987, though the actress reprised the role in 2002 when Victor paid visits to his ex-wives before proposing to Nikki again.
What brings these three ladies back to Genoa City? Maybe just a quick, pleasant visit? Or could they be bringing massive drama in their wake? And what other surprises does The Young and the Restless have in store for its 45th anniversary? Stay tuned to find out as they are announced! One thing’s for sure — this is going to be one week of daytime drama you will not want to miss.
