Elderly Couple Tries to Send Money to Grandson. But Employee Wouldn’t Allow Them. Things Took an Unexpected Turn When a Cop Showed Up

An elderly couple was shocked when they received a phone call saying their grandson was in jail in Cleveland. Desperate to help him out in any way they could, they agreed to bond him out by sending $2,050 to Santiago, Chile.

But when they went to the Giant Eagle in North Ridgeville, OH to send money through Western Union, they were in for an even bigger shock. The employee refused to give them the money order.

That’s because the employee, named Miranda Ulisky, had a hunch that the sweet grandparents were being scammed. So not only did she not allow the couple to send the money, she also called the local police to investigate the situation.

And when Sgt. Matt Gorski came by, he found out that Miranda was 100 percent right.

Now, the North Ridgeville Police Department is making sure the whole town knows about both great employees looking out for their neighbors in a post on Facebook. Considering it’s already been liked more than 3,400 times, we’re sure people far and beyond the town know now.

The police department wrote in their post, “Giant Eagle could have easily taken the couple’s money and taken their share for the money order, but they didn’t. They didn’t because they employ people that care about their community. Both Giant Eagle and Miranda should be commended for saving this elderly couple from becoming victims today.”

Well done to all!
