Little Girl Gets a New Prosthetic Leg, But Watch Her Friends’ Reaction

Searching for something to brighten your day? Look no further! An adorable 7-year-old got a sparkling new prosthetic leg, and her classmates had the best response.

Anu hails from Birmingham, a big city in the U.K.’s West Midlands. And when the tiny tot showed up at school with her brand new running blade prosthetic, her friends crowded around in astonishment. Instead of pointing or laughing like young kids in a schoolyard are known to do, one little girl immediately wraps her arms around Anu in a big bear hug. How sweet!

As soon as she walks onto the playground, Anu’s canary yellow school uniform stands in bright contrast to her vibrant pink running shoe. Even her prosthetic blade is pink! As Anu’s peers huddle around her, one girl shouts “Wow!” “Is that your new pink leg?” another one asks. Then, they ask Anu to show them her new leg in action. As Anu runs a small stretch of the tarmac, her friends follow close behind her. Eventually Anu and another girl lock hands before strutting around the other students. Too funny!

Anu has had a prosthetic leg since birth, so she absolutely looks like a pro with her new blade.

“It makes me run faster and do my street dancing faster,” Anu told BBC Midland Today.

Thanks to the U.K.’s National Health Service, Anu was outfitted for a new prosthetic. The NHS sponsored a program that gave 500 children running blades so they could take part in sports. The blades range in price from $2,500 to $6,500 and need to be changed every two to three years.

With all the constant talk of cyberbullying and teasing, it’s heartwarming to see such an inspirational story come out of an elementary school. The kindness of Anu’s classmates and the little girl’s own fearless are things we so admire! More of this, please.
