Woman Gets Hands on Grandma’s 61-Year-Old Wedding Dress, Does Something Unthinkable with It

When Shanna Wagnor got engaged, she knew that she wanted her grandmother to play a huge role in that special day.

The story of how her grandparents got married is straight out of a storybook. Her grandmother was a student at UC Berkeley and her grandfather was serving in Germany after WWII. Because his deployment put them at opposite sides of the globe, the proposal wasn’t in person, but arrived by letter! Once she received it, she flew to Germany right away, and the two of them got married.

Sixty years later, it’s Shanna’s turn to tie the knot. She found her grandmother’s wedding dress, and, without telling her what she had planned, altered the fit (but not the style) of the dress and wore it for her engagement photo shoot.

When Shanna surprised her grandmother with the photos, she couldn’t believe it. All these years later, the dress was still in near-perfect condition, and her granddaughter looked stunning in it. And look at the family resemblance!

What a beautiful way to include her family history in such a special celebration!
