Taco Bell Is Offering a $5 Taco Box on National Taco Day

Taco Bell is ringing in the holidays a little early in honor of National Taco Day on Oct. 4. The fast-food chain will offer $5 taco gift boxes for one day only so customers can live más — their slogan. If you love tacos, perhaps this is an early Christmas present to yourself.

To maintain that holiday theme, Taco Bell will gift wrap every customer’s National Taco Day purchase in a special — and festive — gift box. And like presents, behind the pretty wrapping paper is something even better: four tacos! The deal includes one crunchy, one Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Taco, one Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Taco, and one Fiery Doritos Locos Tacos — all for $5 at participating locations.

Becuase T-Day couldn’t come sooner, Taco Bell has a live countdown on their website. They also have an adorably hilarious short animated video featuring El Cruncho, Glenn and the Cactus who are here to explain the origins of National Taco Day. Borrowing from the Christmas mythos, Glen wanted to make a big enough taco to feed the world. When his taco broke and he failed, he shed a tear that brought that taco to life. So now every Oct. 4, El Cruncho, the giant talking taco, flies Glen’s taco truck to deliver tacos to Taco Bells across the world.

One of the joys of the holiday season is getting to share the love with friends and family. Keeping that in mind, Taco Bell has also come up with a way to send your pals a greeting card on Twitter to let them know not only that you’re thinking of them but also that Taco Bell is offering a pretty sweet deal. It’s a win-win! All you have to do is tweet the hashtag “#tacogram” and tag your friends on Twitter. If you’re still confused, there’s a video on the Taco Bell website that explains the Taco Grams.

Now that we’ve got you drooling, we’ll let you set yourself a reminder for National Taco Day. The only thing that would make Oct. 4 better is a pitcher of margaritas!
