Couples Who Get Engaged at Panera Can Win a Fully-Catered Wedding

Many brides have been dreaming of their wedding day details since they were little girls: the ring, the dress, and — most importantly — the food. Although certain couples have trouble choosing between steak and lobster to dine on for the big day, some guests could now get the option of a “you pick two.” Yes, that’s right: Panera is going to cater some lucky carb-loving couples’ weddings — for free.

If you or anyone you know would like to eat copious amounts of broccoli cheddar soup and bread bowls in a wedding dress, it’s easy to enter the sweepstakes. All you have to do is: get engaged at a Panera on Valentine’s Day, and post a photo on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter using the hashtag #PaneraProposalSweeps.

According to a release, Panera is choosing five lucky couples to receive free catering, and each reception will have $2,000 worth of food. Participants must be at least 18 years old to enter, and they will be notified within seven days if they’ve won. The sweepstakes begins at 9:00 a.m. EST on February 14 and ends at 11:59 p.m. EST. Only one entry per person is allowed.

After Panera announced the challenge, people have been chiming in on social media with their thoughts about potential spouses getting down on one knee alongside customers mulling over the 99-cent bakery items.

One Twitter user shared some words of wisdom with potential proposers — in the form of a poem.

“You are the Mac to my cheese, the bread to my bowl, the broccoli to my cheddar,” she wrote. “When we rise we rise together like yeast and when we fall we crumble together like cookies. Marry me.”

Another user is going above and beyond to win free Panera — she’s offering to pitch in for her ring!

“Who wants to meet me at Panera this Wednesday?” they write. “I’ll buy if you bring a ring… #freeweddingfood #yesplease #frontegachickenpanini #broccolicheddarsoup”

Yet another Twitter user had a genius proposal idea for those who want to make the moment even more romantic.

“Hi @panerabread — my friend needs a suggestion for how to propose,” she wrote. “What do you think of this idea? Hide the ring in a bread bowl of soup?”

Amazingly, at least one person has revealed that she actually did get engaged at Panera. Unfortunately, her big moment happened several months ago. If only the groom-to-be had waited a little bit longer!

“My honey popped the question after lunch at Panera Bread…in August 2017,” she wrote. “Was there a sweepstakes for getting engaged @panerabread in August?!”

Although a Panera-catered reception might be a little informal for some brides, doesn’t it sound just perfect or a vow-renewal ceremony? You’ve already had the fancy food; now it’s time for some comfort cuisine! Alas, the competition is (sadly) only for new brides and grooms, according to a spokesperson from Panera.

Our take? Panera might not be every couples’ wedding meal of choice, so it sounds like the real winners are the people who score an invite to a Panera-fueled wedding. Still, good luck to all the couples entering the contest… and good luck to the people who are proposing to their (hopefully) future spouses at Panera!
