You've managed to find the perfect presents for everyone on your nice list, and now, it's time to wrap them up. But wait — do you have all the gift wrapping essentials you'll need to get the job done? A gift's presentation is every bit as important as what's inside, so you'll want to start by making sure you've got a fully-stocked wrapping kit ahead of the holiday season.
How to Wrap a Gift
Before we get to the tools you'll need to have on hand to dress your presents up right, you'll need to know how to execute the task: There's a bit more to it than folding corners and adding tape! Here are four tips on how to wrap gifts like a pro.
Measure your paper: The first step to successfully wrapping gifts is a little measuring know-how. Begin by mapping out the amount of wrapping paper you'll need for the item you're prettifying with a ruler ($4.73, Amazon). A great way to do this is by placing your gift or gift box in the center of your paper roll and folding the paper over each of the gift's sides to ensure you've got enough material to cover it. Then, for safe measure, cut a little extra.
Get to folding: Once you have your wrapping paper cut to size, place your gift in its center once more. You'll want to fold two the paper over one of the gift's sides before adding tape to secure it. Repeat the process on the other side. You can also fold one edge of the paper first for a cleaner seam (see the GIF above for an example).

Secure the ends: Now it's time for the ends! To properly seal up your present, begin by folding in the edges of your wrapping paper alongside the top end of your gift (see above). This will create two triangles that you can push up against the gift for a neat closure. From there, secure with tape. Repeat this process on the opposite side, and you'll have a fully wrapped present — but you're not done quite yet!
Add in the finishing touches: Now that the crux of your wrapping is done, it's time to jazz up your gift with embellishments. Whether you've opted to make them yourself or keep things simple with a self-adhering bow, this finishing element will have your present ready to place under the tree — or in the hands of someone you love!
