If you can find love at any age, why can't you be a flower girl at any age, too? Newlywed Abby Mershon proved the latter to be truly ageless when she asked her 92-year-old grandmother to be the flower girl at her wedding.
“Everyone screamed but she shrieked at the top of her lungs,” Mershon said. “She kept on saying over and over that she had never been in a wedding before besides for her own. She was so excited.”
And understandably, the 27-year-old bride's grandma totally stole the show when her time came. On the big day on July 1, Mershon could hear her wedding guests going wild when the flower girl made her huge entrance.
“I was hiding in the clubhouse and I told my girlfriend that I had to look out the window even though people might see me,” she said. “I said I didn’t care and that I had to see this special moment.”
And when you take a look at the priceless video, you'll know why the bride just could not resist peeking.
Mershon was very close to her grandma growing up. Even though she lived an hour away, they would see each other nearly every weekend.
“She would always take us to church, brushed our hair, made us breakfast every single morning and taught us how to make our beds,” Mershon said. “She was always the perfect grandma.”
How wonderful that one of the most "perfect" people in her life got to play such a perfect role on one of the most exciting days of her life.
“She also said she wanted to throw candy instead—as if she was at a parade—but she decided to be respectful,” she said.
Though she only threw flowers and described it as "hard work," she said she had a great time.
