Fighting with stubborn belly fat that refuses to budge can be frustrating — especially if you’ve worked hard to make healthy diet and exercise changes. According to one doctor’s advice, you can finally nix those extra inches with two simple exercises that won’t even require you to get out of a chair.
Alan Mandell, DC, a chiropractor in Miami, regularly shares health tips on his TikTok page. In one of his most popular clips, Mandell promises we can all get our stomachs “fit and trim with no sit-ups and no gym.” Although we wish the answer was simply waving a magic wand around our midsection and watching it instantly melt, he says a couple exercises are just as easy.
Mandell explains that these moves work by focusing on the transverse abdominis muscle: “The deep core muscle way underneath that supports the pelvis, organs, [and] will help you prevent lower back problems.” All of that and a flatter tummy? We’re listening.
Again, both exercises are done while sitting in a chair. He starts with one that involves sitting up straight, raising our arms in the air, and lifting our knees slowly to “work that core” for 20 repetitions. The next one has us reach our arms out in front of us, pivoting at our hips, and squeezing our abs for another 20 repetitions.
Take a look to see Mandell demonstrate:
Doesn’t seem too difficult, does it? We might not even break a sweat.
Mandell doesn’t elaborate on how long it might take to see the belly fat-shrinking results, but claims that if we do these exercises daily, “Your stomach will love you.”
And hey, they’re both simple enough that it couldn’t hurt to try them out for awhile and hope for the best!
