After Autistic Girl Refuses to Remove Old, Tattered Shirt, Her Mother Makes Desperate Plea to Internet Strangers
Mom Deborah Skouson always wants to make her autistic daughter Cami happy. And if one specific shirt makes her happy, then she’ll wear that shirt more often than not.
But Deborah noticed a problem after a while–she loved the shirt so much it became worn and old from so much love. And she was having a lot of trouble finding that same exact shirt.

In a moment of desperation, Deborah took to Facebook to plead with people to help her out, sharing a picture of her daughter in her beloved outfit.
Deborah wrote, “We need another “pink flower shirt,” so will you please share this post or even just the photo? We will pay for the shirt and the shipping if someone would be kind enough to sell it to us. It has to be this exact shirt! We’ve tried similar shirts, and they don’t cut it with Cami!”
And these kind people came through–in droves.
Deborah said at the last count, the family has at least 78 of those new shirts in their home now. Some people have even offered to make pillows or other heartwarming keepsakes from the extras.
And she couldn’t be more grateful, especially considering who’s been giving these shirts.
“These are all total strangers,” Deborah wrote. “People are inherently good and kind, and I’m glad I’ve been able to be a recipient of that kindness.”
