Ah, hot flashes — one of life’s greatest joys … said no one, ever. Whether you’ve been dealing with menopause for years or you’re new to the host of not-so-delightful symptoms that come along with being a woman of a certain age, hot flashes — or night sweats, as they’re called during sleep — are a common nuisance that no one wants to deal with. If you’ve had it up to here with supplements, magnets, and hormone therapy, take heed: There’s a genius bracelet on the market that was specifically designed to ease your hot flash symptoms in seconds.

Say hello to KÜLKUF ($199, Etsy) — your new favorite accessory.  This battery-operated Velcro cuff uses patented ClimaCon technology to regulate your body’s core temperature, even during the most feverish flashes of heat.

Though originally intended to help cool overheated athletes down during strenuous sports, KÜLKUF’s makers quickly realized its potential for menopause relief after a woman experiencing undue warmth tried one on at a trade show.

She wasn’t the only one it worked on, either. An independent study by the Korey Stringer Institute saw nine out of 10 menopausal subjects reporting relief from hot flashes as quickly as 60 seconds after use, according to the KÜLKUF website.

Not only does this first-of-its-kind product work fast, it’s super easy to use — simply wrap it around your wrist until the cooling unit lines up with your arm’s interior. From there, you can tighten the strap and push the battery-powered button for a blast of instant cool (one push), cold (two pushes), or icy cold (three pushes) relief.

That’s good news for the 75 percent of North American women that the North American Menopause Society estimates will experience a hot flash as some point in their lives.

It’s also great for those experiencing prolonged hot flashes. A 2015 study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that the median length of time a woman continued to experience symptoms of overheating after onset was 7.4 years, with some lasting 11 years or more.

Dr. JoAnn Manson, professor of women’s health at Harvard Medical School and professor of epidemiology at Harvard School of Public Health, told Harvard Health that alternate, non-hormonal treatment options for hot flashes — like KÜLKUF— are crucial for menopausal women to explore.

“While hormone therapy is very effective at relieving hot flashes, longer-term treatment carries an increased risk for breast cancer, and women at older ages have higher risks of stroke, blood clots, and other health problems,” she said. “So it’s important that women explore a full range of treatment options — especially women likely to have persistent hot flashes.”

Though KÜLKUF is an investment, to be sure, it’s a small price to pay to avoid the host of health issues described above — and, should it work for you, to never endure a hot flash again!
