Stars of Seinfeld Do the Kindest, Coolest Thing for a Superfan and His Loving Family

Tags:

Seinfeld is one of those lovable TV shows that’ll be stuck in our hearts ’til the end of time. But we’re no superfans like 67-year-old Jim Calder, whose son, James, had the brilliant idea to attempt to cheer up his father by asking Seinfeld cast members through social media to wish his dad a happy birthday.

You see, Jim had been battling lung cancer for two years, and his son and wife were looking for ways to make him smile as he faced what could be his final days. Sadly, Jim did not make it to his birthday; he succumbed to his cancer on November 7. Before he did, his thoughtful son was able to show him clips of all his favorite Seinfeld characters–the stars, but also those many memorable minor characters (the Soup Nazi, anyone?) that were crucial to the show’s hilarity–sending him their good wishes, with some even staying perfectly (and hilariously!) in-character.

“We never dreamed we would be able to get in touch with any of the top four lead actors on the show, let alone some of the actors who played supporting yet legendary characters. These wonderful people helped to honor and celebrate my father’s birthday and provided a much needed distraction during an extremely difficult time for my family,” James wrote on The Huffington Post.

While some of the cast members wanted their videos to stay private, many are available on James’s YouTube page. Here are a few of our favorites, which will make you sure to feel the love for this longtime fan right through your computer screen.
