Matthew McConaughey Hands Out Thousands of Turkeys Ahead of Thanksgiving

Matthew McConaughey just made Thanksgiving come early for thousands of people this year — with a whole lot of thanks and a whole lot of giving. The Oscar award-winning actor went to the Wild Turkey Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky and announced in a Facebook Live video that he was about to help 250 volunteers pass out 4,500 turkeys to people in and around the town. He also casually mentioned that it was his birthday. Aww!

After thanking the volunteers for giving up their Saturday to help out and thanking Butterball for donating the turkeys, McConaughey said, “We believe in our family that the more you’re thankful for, the more you’re going to create in your life to be thankful for.”

After his encouraging speech, the actor put his words right into action by taking off with the volunteers and personally delivering the turkeys to lucky folks’ doorsteps. We can’t imagine how surprised they must have felt when they opened the door! But if the overjoyed recipients in the next Facebook Live video he posted are any indication, we’re guessing that the star made many people happy that day.

For good measure, he also surprised the wife of Jimmy Russell, Wild Turkey’s Master Distiller. And the expression on her face really says it all!

Just when we thought Matthew McConaughey was charming enough as a celebrity in movies and on the red carpet, he proves himself to be capable of such a selfless and kind gesture like this. We’re seriously impressed, especially considering that he gave up his own birthday to give back to others.

Talk about a Happy Thanksgiving!
