A self-professed diet hater, Longstaff knew she had to lose weight when she struggled to fit into her bridesmaid's dress for her brother's wedding two years ago. So she decided to find a balance with her healthy food choices and indulgences, rather than limiting herself to strict rules.
At just 5'3", Longstaff weighed 220 pounds at her heaviest, a result of binge eating junk food like entire blocks of chocolate and bags of chips. When she first attempted weight loss, she still struggled with binge episodes, especially when she had a "cheat" night.

She said, "I would have a pizza for my cheat meal, sometimes with a side of fries and garlic bread, but then I would ‘need’ something sweet afterwards so would often have a bar of sharing chocolate then raid the cupboards because I thought ‘I’ve started eating now I may as well continue.'"

Longstaff says she dropped 99 pounds naturally by simply eating lots of healthy food and exercising, while still keeping up her routine of the occasional outing for pizza, wine, and even cake with her friends.
"You can't stay indoors forever and not go out because you want to lose 10 pounds," she wrote on Instagram. "Life is for living and enjoying so if you want a glass of wine or a piece of cake then have it."
So what's her trick? Keeping track of calories in and the calories out.
Don't give up your life to lose weight, you still need to enjoy yourself. "I count calories and log all of my meals in a food diary to ensure I am in a calorie deficit over the week, meaning that I make sure to burn more calories than I consume, allowing my body to be burning fat resulting in weight loss," she said.
In other words, her secret isn't cutting out her favorite foods, but making sure she has (quite literally) enough room for them during a week of healthy eating and staying active. And resisting the urge to go to town on the bag of chips after a bad day was pivotal.
"Having self-belief makes you far more likely to stick to your plan and achieve your goal," she said. "Additionally, having the ability to pick yourself up after a bad day is important, as an emotional eater myself, I understand the temptation of going home after a bad day to binge eat in order to feel better, however this is a temporary solution with both mental and physical damages in the long term."
Since she's standing at nearly 139 pounds now, her plan seems to have worked its magic!
