Those who catch a glimpse of little Millie Mitchel might assume she is far beyond her years. That's because at only 11 months old, she's got a full head of hair!
Mitchel's mother, Meg O'Halloran, says that people are so shocked by Millie's flowing, black mane that they mistake it for a wig.
When O'Halloran gave birth to Mille last May, she was just as surprised as anyone to find that the cutie entered the world with a startling mop of black hair.
"They held her up over the curtain to me after I had my C-section," O'Halloran shared."I just went, 'Oh my God.' It's especially surprising because [my hair] is fine and dark and [my husband] Marc's is thick, but he wasn't born with hair like that either."
Since then, Millie's hair has grown so long, it even extends down her back. Confronted with her daughter's overwhelming heap of locks, O'Halloran admits that she blow dries Millie's mane every day. What a treatment!
Still, things haven't always been easy for little Millie. Born five weeks prematurely, the adorable youngster was diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a build up of fluid on the brain. Since then, she's had two surgeries to drain the excess fluid that has caused the size of her head to swell. Although surgeons were working on her brain, they didn't have to remove her gorgeous locks.
"I was really afraid they were going to have to cut it off, " said O'Halloran. "They had to shave bits of,f but it has grown back remarkably well."
Thankfully, Millie has made a stellar recovery.
To keep the thick mane in check, her parents use baby shampoo and conditioner, as well as a de-tangler that allows Millie to get a brush through her hair.
Despite the knotted mess Millie sometimes endures, her parents say that her luscious locks are what make her so special.
"Nobody forgets her,” O’Halloran added. “If I go to the doctor, I just say, 'The baby with all the hair.' It's lovely that she's a little bit different."
We’re quite stunned—if not a little envious—over Millie’s lovely tresses, but most importantly, we wish her the best of luck as she overcomes a trying condition.
