A Year After an Elderly Coworker’s Heart Stopped, Camp Counselors Threw a Birthday Party for the Most Touching Reason

First birthdays are usually sweet occasions. After all, they celebrate a big milestone for adorable babies. But while this first birthday party is also a big milestone, it actually doesn’t celebrate a baby!

A group of camp counselors from Camp Shamineau in Minnesota organized the party for their elderly camp counselor, Herb. Since Herb’s an older man, it obviously wasn’t his first birthday. In fact, it wasn’t his birthday at all.

It was the one-year anniversary of the day his heart stopped.

When Herb had a heart attack a year ago, he was temporarily dead until doctors miraculously revived his heartbeat. Thankfully, he’s still alive and well today, and he was touched by the camp counselors’ efforts to celebrate a year of his recovery.
