When a van full of delicious Krispy Kreme donuts was reported stolen in a Florida town, officers were quick to track down the suspect. The Clearwater Police Department shared the information on its Facebook page on October 16, 2018, saying: “A Krispy Kreme Doughnuts delivery van was stolen this morning from Lake City, Florida. It was recovered this afternoon at Crest Lake Park in Clearwater.” It didn’t even take them a full day to sniff out the yummy treats. And obviously, the question on everyone’s mind was who gets to eat the still fairly fresh donuts that were found inside?
Of course, the officers returned the van and the “dozens of delicious donuts on board” to the store they originally came from — and they were more than happy to hear that the store’s manager was willing to give all the donuts right back over to them! It makes sense, considering the store probably wouldn’t have been able to re-sell the recovered goods. Hopefully whoever the delivery was intended for still got a replacement batch of donuts, too.
While the police officers enjoyed a few pastries themselves, they also decided to share their good fortune with others who would appreciate the sweet treats even more: people facing homelessness. You can see the heartwarming photos of the officers sharing their bounty of baked goods below.

What an amazing reminder to always pay things forward in our own lives! The next time you find yourself with some unexpected and delightful extras in your life — whether it’s yummy food or even just an encouraging message — look around to see who else might benefit from a boost in their day. As these officers know, that is especially true when it comes to the homeless members of any community. They often rely on food and clothing donations, so be sure to keep your local shelters in mind, too.
