Woman Donates Money to Clear School’s Entire Lunch Debt Just in Time for Christmas

‘Tis the season for generosity, and one Maryland woman went above and beyond to get in the holiday spirit this year. Ashley D’Amico wanted to pay it forward at a school that her soon-to-be adopted children will attend, and she did it in a way that’s completely fitting for the Christmas season.

According to Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) officials, D’Amico had called them, asking about donating money to eliminate school meal charges for students. After she was told that the total outstanding meal charge for students at the school added up to $3,469.96, she covered every last dollar and every last penny.

D’Amico, who owns a Pennsylvania-based real estate investment company, shows us a perfect example of what it means to give during this beautiful time of year. Can you imagine the joy that everyone at the school felt after hearing the news right before the holidays officially kicked off? It’s always amazing to have one less stressful thing on the list, and D’Amico obviously recognized that with this kind gesture.

FCPS Food and Nutrition Services Manager Robert Kelly said he is grateful for her act of kindness, her interest in the department, and her extreme gratitude for the work that they do. And judging by the high amount that was left on the outstanding meal charges, it’s clear that this was the exact gift they needed.

Although more than a quarter of students who attend a public school in this specific county are eligible for free or reduced-price meals, there are also several children whose families miss the cutoff, but still struggle to afford the higher prices.

How beautiful of D’Amico to step up and give these families a hand — long before her family even starts classes there!
