Women's weight loss transformations are always inspiring, regardless of their age, but lately we're getting motivated by this insulin resistant teen and her weight loss journey. And when you find out her weight loss tricks, you'll definitely know why.
Mele Osai was only 14 years old when she tipped the scale at nearly 300 pounds. Weighing in at 297 total, she received startling news from her doctor, who informed her that she was insulin resistant. That meant that she had an increased risk of developing diabetes, even at such a young age.
Osai realized that the doctor's shocking update was the wakeup call she needed to change her lifestyle so that she could avoid being hindered by the challenging health condition later in life. So she got right to work.

She cut out all sugary drinks and processed foods out of her diet, which, as we all know, can wreak havoc on your waistline if they're a big part of your life. And then she also hit the gym.
Osai started using a stationary bike and lifting weights in her yard. She also started walking a whole lot more than she was before as well. (It just goes to show that low-impact exercise is not for nothing, folks!)
As it turns out, implementing these changes into her daily routine made a huge different in the end. How huge? Losing half her body weight huge. Yes, really!
Two years after her scary diagnosis, Osai has now lost 143 pounds and weighs a much healthier 154.
"I am the healthiest I've ever been in my life," she said.
