Kate Middleton and Queen Elizabeth Bond in the Cutest Way During Their First Appearance Together

Tags:

It seems Kate Middleton and Queen Elizabeth share more in common that just good fashion sense. The royal pair just made their first joint appearance together while visiting King’s College London, and their unique bond was clear as soon as they arrived. As they pulled into the campus sitting side-by-side in the back seat of a burgundy car, the pair were spotted sharing a bright blue blanket over their laps — too cute!

While Kate and the queen have attended a number of events together over the years, this engagement was the pair’s first that they’ve attended as a duo. Kate wore a beautiful grey belted Catherine Walker coat paired with a black hat by Sylvia Fletcher. To round out the pair’s harmonious joint appearance, the queen opted for a powder pink ensemble by designer Stewart Parvin — the perfect hue to accompany Kate’s grey!

During the event, Kate gave a rare insight into her children’s lives and their love for children’s books. Speaking to the creator of an app that allows people to choose stories to read based on how much time they have, Kate told him, “Oh, that would be fantastic for the kiddies when it’s bedtime.” According to The Express, Kate then added, “Particularly for tired parents who want the children to go to sleep.” The app creator later told the publication that Kate “mentioned that she thinks it would be good for her children before they go to sleep.”

During the event, Queen Elizabeth also unveiled a plaque to formally open Bush House, which was formally a building for the BBC. The pair also met with a number people who work and study at the high-tech university in central London.

Elizabeth and Kate enjoyed a stunning view of central London as they stepped onto a rooftop terrace at the newly opened building. Speaking to a group of builders who had worked on the project, Kate comically asked them, “Do you all still get on? What a mammoth project this was.”

Later in the day, Kate visited the Foundling Museum, of which she is now a patron. At the event, she shared a poignant speech about engaging with young people through learning — a cause close to her heart.

“I am passionate about improving children’s life chances and giving them opportunities so that they can look forward to the best possible futures, fulfill their whole potential, and have the freedom to explore their creativity,” she said. “I have always believed in the power of art, not only to unlock that creativity but also to bring us joy and to inspire, challenge, and positively change our lives.”

There’s no denying it was a busy day for both Kate and the queen, but with so many sweet anecdotes to come from one joint appearance, we’re hoping there’ll be many more outings between the pair to look forward to.
