Kate Middleton’s Trooping of the Colour Style Just Keeps Getting Better

Every June, the British celebrate the Trooping of the Colour. While this event is in honor of Queen Elizabeth‘s birthday (which is actually in April, though the festivities are held a little later to take advantage of the nicer weather), it’s Kate Middleton and her dazzling style that have absolutely stolen the show. And now that she’s given birth to an adorable trio of little ones, Kate and her family are truly the reason we pay attention on the big day.

We don’t really have a comparable event in America, which is probably why we love tuning in to the Trooping of the Colour. This tradition gives us an excuse to marvel at all the pomp and circumstance, and most importantly, to gawk at the impressive fashion and fascinators on display. One of our favorite royals to watch is the Duchess of Cambridge. Since the big royal wedding in 2011, Kate Middleton has waved from the balcony at Buckingham Palace and graced millions with her timeless style, which is sometimes very reminiscent of the beloved Princess Diana’s.

Kate gives us a peek into her seemingly endless wardrobe, always dazzling the press with what she’s wearing that day. However, the Trooping of the Colour is different. Why? Because it means we’re guaranteed a glimpse of her two little cherubs, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, who may we just say are already two little fashion trendsetters. Prince Louis has yet to make his Trooping of the Colour debut, but there’s always next year!

Just weeks after Kate gave birth to her third child, Prince Louis, she was back in royal form at the 2018 Trooping of the Colour festivities. The Duchess of Cambridge opted for another eye-catching pastel outfit, this one designed by Alexander McQueen (a favorite of Kate's). Meanwhile, Juliette Botterill crafted Kate's matching fascinator.

Though a lot of the attention surrounding this year's festivities centered around Meghan Markle's Trooping of the Colour debut and her royal-protocol-breaking off-the-shoulder gown, not enough attention has been paid to just how stunning the Duchess of Cambridge looked. The royal may have just given birth, but one thing's for sure: The Kate Middleton diet works — she's already got her pre-baby body back!

That said, this may be the last time we see Kate for quite awhile. Protocol dictates that royal mothers take off six months after giving birth. It wouldn't be right for Kate to miss the Trooping of the Colour because it's when the nation officially celebrates Queen Elizabeth's birthday. However, she has no other upcoming events on her calendar that are can't-miss. Going forward, it will be up to the duchess to "pick and choose her engagements," royal biographer Duncan Larcombe said.

Just when you thought the royal family couldn't get any more perfect, Prince William and Kate welcomed Princess Charlotte. The mini royal made his Trooping of the Colour debut for real this time (Kate was pregnant with George during 2013's Trooping of the Colour), and he looks so cute we don't mind that we had to wait so long to see him.
