Earlier this year, I did something a bit out of character: I spoiled myself. When it comes to my shopping habits, words like “frugal” and “savvy” come to mind, “spendy” not so much. However, I have no problem investing in a piece of clothing or an accessory if I know it is made of high-quality material and is going to last a long time. Enter the Lo & Sons Pearl Crossbody ($173.60-$248, Lo & Sons) — a bag I have been lusting after for quite some time.

Lo & Sons was founded by Helen Lo, and yes, her two sons, after she couldn’t find anything on the market that blended the style of a designer bag with the functionality and comfort of a travel bag. Thus, the eponymous brand and their best-selling O.G. bag ($275-$295, Lo & Sons) were born. Fast-forward nine years and now Lo & Sons is a bustling brand with 10 unique and methodically-crafted bags.

So what is it about the Pearl that I adore so much? Take a seat — there’s a lot to unpack here. First of all, it’s remarkably designed with an abundance of organizational features (hello, key chain ribbon!) and three separate compartments that offer a surprising amount of room despite its relatively small size. For a first-hand look at just how much this bag can carry, check out the video below.

This bag is also crafted with a delicate eye for design. Featuring a classic, clean-line silhouette, it comes in either a sturdy Saffiano leather or a soft Nappa leather with 11 different color options to choose from. I ended up going with the Nappa leather version in black as I wanted something sleek that would work seamlessly with my wardrobe and act as the perfect finishing touch to any look — which it does.

Where the bag really shines, however, is in its versatility — it can be worn as a crossbody, a shoulder bag or a a wristlet. I’m all for a multi-use product and that sold it for me. So after two years of pining for the Pearl, and a particularly successful period at work that warranted a reward, I finally bit the bullet.

Aside from being one of the most stylish bags I’ve ever owned (I get compliments on it almost every time I wear it out), it’s also been one of the most useful. Chic, organized, and made-to-last, if there’s one bag worthy to carry the title of the best crossbody bag around, someone fetch the Pearl a crown.
