Mandy Moore has babies on the brain thanks to 'This Is Us'--and she's not afraid to say it! The actress, who plays a mom of three on the surprise hit show, opened up about how her role affected her perspective on the possibility of being a mom in real life someday.
After all, when she first picked up a script, she had a thing or two to learn about baby care, to say the least.
"I didn’t know how to change a diaper," she said. "I had crew members showing me how to change a diaper."
And she quickly learned firsthand what a big responsibility it was to look after the tiny newborns who needed those diaper changes.
She said, "I mean, we get to hold these newborn children, and I can’t believe their parents were willing to hand over their babies to me. I’m like, ‘Hi, I’m Mandy. I have absolutely no experience with small children,' and they’re like, ‘Here’s my 2-week-old baby.’”
But now that she's had more experience with both babies and young kids on set, it's a whole different ballgame.
She continued, "I’m terrible, but yes, it has sort of activated that maternal side of me that I’m totally ready to have kids now."
Hilariously enough, she's already gotten a taste of the mischief kids can get themselves into when they get older--thanks to some of the younger actors in the show.
She said, "I remember we were shooting the Christmas episode, and there was some melted peppermints in a candy dish that wasn’t even from the prop department. Clearly, it was set decoration, and I turn my back for one second, and I turn back, and all of them have jammed peppermints in their mouths."
Well, if she can handle that, we're sure she has the chops if motherhood is indeed in her future!
