Martha Stewart’s Simple Secrets to Staying Ageless at 77

If you look at a photo of Martha Stewart from 15 years ago, you would probably assume it was taken today, and vice versa. The domestic guru truly seems to have discovered the fountain of youth. Luckily, over the years she’s shared quite a few of her tips for looking ageless. 

While visiting Dr. Oz back in 2017, she revealed that she starts every day with a hydrating mask on her face, hands, or décolletage. “Any kind of mask,” she claimed. “I have ginkgo, I have collagen, any of them.” She wakes up at 4 a.m, applies a mask, then lays back down in bed while it works its magic before hopping in the shower. Getting up so early is not an essential part of the process, right? 

After that, she blends up a healthy green juice full of vegetables she’s plucked from her own garden. You might not have the option to grow your own produce, but purchasing the freshest options will give you the best flavor and nutritional boost. Stewart drinks this “every single morning,” and we can’t deny it seems to work wonders. Her recipe, which she shared with TODAY in 2014, includes a pear, a couple stalks of celery, a couple cucumbers, parsley, orange slices, and an inch-long piece of ginger.

As for the rest of her daily meals, Stewart sticks to dishes similar to those you’d find on the Mediterranean diet. “I don’t eat a lot of meat, more of a fish based diet,” she explained. As someone who’s famous for her scrumptious baking recipes, you might wonder how things like cookies and cakes fit in. The answer: Stewart recently began swapping out all-purpose flour with more nutrient-rich, gluten-free options like buckwheat and millet flour. She uses those in her recipe for breakfast cookies. (That’s right, cookies you can eat for breakfast!)

All of this, plus exercising “as much as possible” and “good genes” (“My mother’s skin was pretty smooth at 93,” she has said) have definitely worked well for Stewart.
