The long-awaited Mary Poppins sequel finally has a trailer and we absolutely love it! Mary Poppins Returns is set around 20 years after the original, in the era of the Great Depression. It follows Jane and Michael Banks, played by Emily Mortimer and Ben Whishaw respectively, now both grown up along with Michael's three children.
The new film sees Emily Blunt take on the iconic role of Mary Poppins, previously played by Julie Andrews, who did not wish to return to the role despite being asked by Disney. However, Andrews did give her blessing to the project.
Posted on social media, the trailer shows us a glimpse of the new film, which starts off by following a discarded kite as it flies through the streets of London. Eventually, it attracts the attention of a little boy, who find something surprising at the end of it...

The teaser trailer ends with Mary arriving from the sky and later meeting up with a grown-up Michael who can been seen excitedly saying: "Mary Poppins! It is wonderful to see you," to which Mary replies: "Yes, it is, isn't it?"
Of course, nothing will ever replace the special place the original version holds in our hearts, but we're most certainly open to watching the new film, which is due to be released on December 21, 2018 — an early Christmas present!
