When Jeff and Jamie Wood learned they were expecting their second child, they were hoping that the delivery would be a quick one. After all, their first child David was 10 days overdue and took 18 hours of labor to make his grand entrance into the world.
What the Woods didn't realize was just HOW quick their second bundle of joy would get here--and the crazy turn of events that would lead up to it.
Jamie suddenly woke up at 1 a.m. on June 2 with contractions. As she told For Every Mom, she called her parents to stay with their child as she and Jeff raced to the car and began to drive to the hospital. Though it was only 20 minutes away, Jamie asked Jeff to pull over halfway there.
“This is happening now,” she told her husband.
"Are you SURE you can’t make it?" Jeff asked her.
Oh, she was sure alright!
The only place available for them to park was a Starbucks parking lot, which of course, was empty at 2 a.m.
Fortunately, there was a female security guard on duty right there in the lot. Jeff asked her to call 911. The operator then coached Jeff through the whole birthing process right on a car blanket on the asphalt.
Three pushes later, their son Daniel made his grand appearance.
Thankfully, the fire department came soon after to take them all to the hospital. All were in good health, and the parents were so thankful to God for their son's safe delivery.
The BEST kind of delivery they could ever hope for at Starbucks. Beautiful!
