Way to go, Chad Dean! The former My 600-lb Life star has seriously slimmed down since fans first saw him on the hit TLC series back in January 2016. At 700 pounds, the truck driver was forced to do something drastic before he risked possible death.
After undergoing gastric bypass surgery, the former reality star dropped 260 pounds in one year, but he almost permanently damaged the area where his stomach meets his intestines in the process. (He stopped taking his prescribed medication because of its cost.) Luckily, his Houston-based surgeon, Younan Nowzaradan, MD, was able to reverse the damage, but he was furious with Dean for disobeying orders.
At the start of the show, Dean was so morbidly obese that he relied on his wife Ayesha and their two children Taqua and JoJo to wait on him hand and foot. "It's not what my kids deserve," he said at the time. "Their lives now revolve around me." His daughter added that her "ultimate, number one dream" would be for her father to lose weight so he could go outside and play with her.
These days, it looks like that dream may have become a reality. Based on his recent Facebook posts, the Maryland native is back to driving and is able to provide for his family once more. On October 4, he wrote, "Getting unloaded then go 30 miles get reloaded, and off to Houston for Friday morning delivery." Within the last few days alone, he's driven through Montana, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, and Colorado.
At first, Dean didn't have enough money to pay for skin removal surgery, even after entering back into the workforce. He set up a GoFundMe and raised $3,920 of his $5,000 goal in just 10 months. Judging from his Facebook page, it looks like he was finally able to have the surgery. He's posted photos showing his new body and has lost over 400 pounds. He wrote, "401, but who's counting?" Congratulations!
