Dear Olive Garden, Why Do You Have a 12-Ounce Meatball?

If you love Olive Garden as much as we do, you’re always thrilled to find out what kind of delicious recipes the restaurant chain introduces to us next. But we’re not sure that even we can handle its latest surprise: a 12-ounce meatball. Yes, you read that correctly.

Specifically, this 12-ounce meatball is part of a pasta dish (because what’s a meatball without pasta?) called the Giant Meatball and Four Cheese Manicotti. The meal is part of a very accurately named collection of dishes called New Big Italian Classics. As the name implies, it features the massive meatball and oversized manicotti with a four-cheese filling and a homemade marinara and alfredo sauce topping. We don’t know about you, but we already feel super full just reading that description — and we think that giant meatball just might be where we draw the line.

As Delish reports, a standard-size Olive Garden meatball is only two ounces. Considering how happily satisfied we are with just a few of those along with some tasty pasta, we’re not really sure we need a gigantic version of a good thing. That said, the large portion size of this meal does invite shareability, so maybe if we convinced a few people to join in on one meatball feast, we’d all be able to finish it. We proudly salute anyone who is able to finish it on his or her own, though.

If you’re feeling bold enough to take on the challenge — either with other people or by yourself — you’d better hurry, because this dish is only available through May 27.

Would you rather make your own pasta at home instead? It’s surprisingly simple:
